What do you get at an Embellees Workshop?

Our first Embellees Workshop 'Let's Get Misting' is happening on Sunday 4 July, 2010 and we wanted to give you another 'sneaky peeky' at the beautiful Kits each participant will find at their workspace when they arrive!

These beautiful Kits include all the 'bits and pieces' to complete your album + some very special extras.  Every participant will be getting a very special surprise addition in their Kit to take away (so you have to be there to find out what it is).

The Workshop Kits are all cut and ready - we don't want to make it too 'fiddly' on the day.  You will still be practicing your new techniques with Glimmer Mist and adding your own special touches with all the beautiful 'embellees' we have included.... are you excited yet?  'Cause we sure are!

If you are still interested in attending we have a wait list and are happy to still take names in case we have a spot or two that can accommodate you... so don't forget to email us at:  embellees@bigpond.com with any enquiries.

Sneaky Peaky - Field of Flowers Workshop - 1 August 2010

Thank you to all the lovely ladies who have enquired about our Workshops.  Our 'Let's Get Misting' Workshop is coming up very soon and we are busy assembling the gorgeous kits (show you more of these tomorrow).  But being the creative bods that we are... we are very busy putting the finishing touches on our gorgeous project for the 'Field of Flowers' Workshop that is scheduled for the 1 August, 2010.

Again, the Embellees Team have been working hard behind the scenes to create not only a Workshop, but a whole 'day experience'.

Our Workshops aim to:

  • Offer value for money with our price for this Workshop being $45.00.  This includes all your items to make your project, no extras to purchase on the day.
  • Concentrate on variety and technique, no more just punching out or cutting up paper and sticking down embellishments.
  • Introduce lots of great ideas, tips and tricks from all the 'blog stalking' we do and, the industry led workshop we also attend on a regular basis.
  • Provide a large comfortable venue with lots of room to move around (nothing worse than 'squishing' in to a small cramped workspace)
  • Present you with kits that are not only beautiful to receive (just like a pressie) but include an eclectic mix of products and handmade items... we want you to leave 'thinking outside the square' and stretching your comfort zone... this style of scrapping has 're-energised' us and we want to share that with you.
  • Deliver content by experienced Workshop presenters with business and teaching backgrounds. Lisa has owned her own scrapbooking business and taught a variety of Scrapbooking classes for over 10 years. While Lizzie has been teaching and presenting to classes for over 20 years as a qualified teacher.

Here is a 'sneaky peaky' of our project ......

What else can we tell you?

  • You will get to use Glimmer Mist.
  • Make 10 different flowers - techniques you will get to use 'over & over' again and are suited to so many projects.
  • Complete this beautiful canvas panel and lots more!  We can't show you everything, that would spoil the surprise.  There is so much more to this project and some special extras you will get to complete.... remember this is only a 'sneaky peaky'!!
  • Use lots of different materials - traditional and non-traditional.  Again, that thinking outside the square, using up your stash, stalking places other than Scrapbooking shops for 'bits and pieces'.
  • Oh, and yes, your Kit even includes the lovely easel to hold your project.

Bookings for this Workshop are due to close on 20 July, so we are keen to finalise as many registrations as quickly as possible because the enquiries have been coming in thick and fast. and we would hate you to miss out.

Our numbers are limited, so if you want to book, please contact us at:  embellees@bigpond.com

Try it Tuesday - Cupcake Favours

Try it Tuesday

22 June 2010

Now remember 'Try it Tuesdays' are all about those creative bods willing to share their talent and inspire us.

To celebrate the 'sisterhood' this week and to continue to feed your creativity I thought I would share a little project that recently inspired me for my DD's 8th birthday.

Faux Cupcakes

Now as most of our schools and daycares have tightened up and we find we can't take a cake for our little ones (and not so little ones) to share on birthdays, I needed to come up with something a bit inventive aka 'time to start surfing my favourite blogs'.

While 'surfing' I came across this fabulous 'faux' version of a cupcake... just the thing for my DD to take to school to celebrate her birthday.

Now I can hear you saying ' Mother of the year award in the making'... not so!  I have to be honest, as much as I loved this inspiration and found myself making these delightful cupcakes, with 5 down and another 21 to go... I decided they would be a nice treat for a few close friends who were celebrating with us (see friends and family, pinky promise I would tell the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth).

So check out the talented Arlette from Polka Dot Pineapple
This link will take you to the gorgeous 'faux' cupcake tutorial that was my inspiration!

Try it Tuesday - Butterfly Kisses

Try it Tuesday

15 June 2010

Now remember 'Try it Tuesdays' are all about those creative bods willing to share their talent and inspire us.

To celebrate the 'sisterhood' this week and to continue to feed your creativity we thought we would share a little project Lizzie played around with on the weekend.

Butterfly Kisses

My DD 'Princess Jessie' has just made over her bedroom. We were inspired by the beautiful vinyl wall art scenes you can buy, but DD seems to change her taste so often (it's a tween thing), that I decided to look at what I might be able to use from my stash to create something a bit different for her wall... here is a 'sneeky peeky' at our efforts so far...

This is what we started with ........

I found a lovely range of co-ordinating scrapbooking papers and matched up some plain cardstock from my stash.

I then had DD 'slaving' away on the Cuttlebug cutting and embossing the first round of butterflies - these are the larger ones.

Next I continued the 'child labour' with the vast range of butterfly punches in our stash... this kept DD busy for hours.

I continued with the Cuttlebug using our embossing folders to add more texture and finished off with every tweenie's great love... 'BLING'!!.

DD had these all piled in size order and it was off to the bedroom wall with the bluetac (now don't get all worried about marks on the wall... it was all we had handy and yep worked like a charm).

This is the next stage...
(the photos do not do it justice)

Some of the butterflies are textured (Cuttlebug embossing)

Some are 3 dimensional with two layers (gotta just love that Martha Stewart Monarch Butterfly Punch!)

All in all... not a bad effort for several hours of quiet from DD, a sense of achievement that she had made this beautiful feature for her room and at no cost... yep, gotta feel good when you have used the 'stash'.

We are now working on a matching canvas to add to the wall and as I really want DD to feel that same sense of achievement and pride in her own creation so we are busy working on 'a draft' to get it just right... so stay tuned for the finished wall in weeks to come.

So how about trying it and getting our your punches to see what 'wallies' you can create from scratch!

And the Winner Is!

Thank you to all of you who have joined our 'followers' group and left us comments.

For us girlies that are new to this 'blogging gig' we get so excited to know you are interested enough to 'follow us' and, getting feedback is nearly the same high we get when we know there are new scrapbooking products to be had (well I am sure you get my drift).

So let's get down to it.... and the winner is....???????

Ms Marion Werren
(all names went in a big plastic bowl and DD did the draw)

But wait ..... how could we not thank all of you who have joined us, thus far ... so a little something will also be coming your way ... a 'sample' to keep you tempted.

So if you are one of our 10 followers (as at 12/06/2010), please email us your 'snail mail' address to:  Embellees@bigpond.com and allow us 2 weeks to get your goodies to your door.

Let's Get Misting Workshop - 4 July 2010

So many enquiries, we thought we should share some more 'sneaky peaks' of the gorgeous album you will create with all the 'bits and pieces' in your kit, not to mention all those pages you will have Glimmer Misted and created (handmade pages.... 'noice').

The Embellees Team have been working hard behind the scenes to create not only a Workshop, but a whole 'day experience'.  Things that are unique to our Workshops that we found were not out there in our local area are:

  • Workshops that concentrate on variety and technique, no more just punching out or cutting up paper and sticking down embellishments.
  • Bringing lots of great ideas, tips and tricks from all the 'blog stalking' we do.  We will never claim to be the owners of an idea that we found in 'blog land' we want to share the 'love' that others in the 'sisterhood of crafters' inspire us with.
  • Large comfortable venue with lots of room to move around (nothing worse than 'squishing' in to a small cramped workspace).  Thanks to the Edgeworth Bowling Club we have the use of their Auditorium and this is light and airy with lots of room.
  • Our price of $45.00 includes all your items to make your album... no extras to purchase on the day.
  • The kits are presented in a beautiful package - just like a pressie you can't wait to open (all part of our Workshops having that personal appeal).  They will include an eclectic mix of products and handmade items... we want you to leave 'thinking outside the square' and stretching your comfort zone... this style of scrapping has 're-energised' our scrapping and we want to share that with you.
  • Experienced Workshop presenters with business and teaching backgrounds.  Lisa has owned her own scrapbooking business and taught more workshops than she has served her 'lads pasta dinners'. While Lizzie has been teaching and presenting to classes for over 20 years.
So here is what you will be making on the day
... all from scratch!

While we will all be working with the same colours, each Album created will be individual because you can choose what colours go where, change the title to suit photos you want to add, choose different masking options to suit your theme... the list is endless.

Try it Tuesdays....

Don't you just love the 'net'... all those fabulous blogs ... all those creative bods willing to share their talent and inspire us ... the 'sisterhood of crafters' is truley alive and thriving...

To celebrate this 'sisterhood', the
Embellees Team introduce you to .........

'Try it Tuesdays'.

Tuesdays will see us feed your creativity with some of the following:

  • post a link or maybe 10... whatever has inspired us to create something beautiful, try something new, just made us smile at the sheer creativity of it all
  • publish great tutorials directly from the hands of the talented team at Embellees
  • introduce you to another 'sister - from the sisterhood' - where possible a native local who we love to 'craft with'
  • So you must add Tuesdays to your 'blog stalking calendar' to stay up with what we we find, what we create and who we might meet!!!
